Step-by-step guide to issuing blockchain credentials with the LACNET network

POK Proof of Knowledge lets your organization issue digital certificates and badges, including credentials backed by the LACNET blockchain network. The NFT Ownership Credential type is stored as an NFT, which guarantees its validity and permanence over time. This guide walks you through the full issuance flow in POK, from choosing a design to configuring the delivery emails.

1. Open the Issue section​

  1. Once inside the platform, select the Issue tab in the left side menu.
  2. At the top you will find your dashboard, which shows how many credits you have available to send blockchain credentials.

2. Choose the issuance type​

You can issue credentials in two ways:

  • Bulk issuance: upload a CSV or XLSX file with the information of all recipients. See the bulk upload guide for the details of this flow.
  • Manual issuance: enter each recipient's data individually. See the manual upload guide for the details of this flow.

3. Configure the issuance​

The issuance flow is organized into accordions that you complete in order.

Choose a design​

  1. Select the credential type:

    • Certificate
    • Badge

  2. Choose a design:

    • From the My Designs tab (designs previously created by your organization).
    • Or from the Template Certificates and Template Badges tabs that POK offers by default.

  3. Link the credential to learning paths (optional):

    • Check the Part of a learning path box.
    • The credential you issue becomes a microcredential that belongs to a learning path.
    • Select the path and then the associated step.
    • To link more than one path, click + add path and repeat the process.

    To create a learning path, open Paths in the left side menu and click New path.

  4. Select a custom page (optional):

    • Pick the custom page you created from the dropdown.
    • Recipients will then view the credential with your organization's branding and any smart announcements you configured.

Credential information​

  1. Fill in the fields required by the selected template:

    • [Organization name]
    • [Issued title]

    These fields appear only if they are active in the selected design.

  2. Set the issuance date in your preferred format (dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy). This date appears on the credential only if the design has that attribute enabled.

  3. Configure the validity of the credential:

    • No expiration.
    • With expiration: choose how many days it stays valid, or pick an exact date in the calendar.

    Once the expiration date is reached, the credential view shows a box indicating that the credential has expired.

Recipient data​

Complete this section according to the issuance type you selected: upload your CSV or XLSX file for bulk issuance, or type each recipient's data for manual issuance. Both flows are explained step by step in the bulk upload guide and the manual upload guide.

Credential type​

You have three options:

  • Basic Credential (free):
    • Recipients can view and share their credential as a public image on POK's website.
    • Generated at no cost.
  • Blockchain Verify Credential (uses credits):
    • A verifiable credential anchored on the blockchain, with full traceability.
    • Consumes credits from your available balance.
  • NFT Ownership Credential (premium):
    • Issued as a secure, permanent NFT with a fully customized ownership experience.
    • The blockchain network used, Polygon or LACNET, depends on your account's configuration. If your organization is set up on LACNET, that is the network you will see selected by default.

Email configuration​

  1. Email language: select from the dropdown the language for the emails sent to recipients. This is the language used in the acceptance email and the credential delivery email.

    To create and manage custom languages:

    • Open Branding in the left side menu.
    • Go to Emails.
    • In the Delivery details tab, find the Translations box.
    • There you can add languages, generate automatic AI translations, and edit them.

  2. Email design: choose which custom email template to use for the acceptance and credential delivery emails.

    • From Branding > Emails > Templates you can create custom email templates.
    • Click create template and select the type of email you want to design.

4. Send the credentials​

When every section is complete, send the credentials. The final confirmation step depends on the issuance type you chose; both the manual and the bulk flows are covered in detail in the manual upload guide and the bulk upload guide.
