What are credits in POK and how do they work?

A credit is what POK deducts each time you send a credential that lives on the blockchain: sending a Blockchain Verify credential uses one Verify credit, and sending a blockchain NFT credential uses one NFT Ownership credit. A Web basic credential never uses a credit: POK sends it for free, with no limit on how many you send.

POK tracks Verify and NFT Ownership as two separate balances, shows both on your "Home" dashboard, and warns you before letting a send run over what you currently have available.

Which credential kinds use credits​

POK issues three kinds of credential, and only two of them draw on a credit balance:

  • Web basic: free and unlimited, and not anchored on the blockchain. Sending one never touches a credit.
  • Blockchain Verify: a credential anchored on the blockchain. Sending one uses one Verify credit.
  • Blockchain NFT credential, whose credit balance is labeled NFT Ownership: a credential minted as an NFT, with a fully customized ownership experience. Sending one uses one NFT Ownership credit.

Verify and NFT Ownership are two separate balances. Having Verify credits available does not let you send a blockchain NFT credential once your NFT Ownership balance is at zero, and having NFT Ownership credits does not cover a Blockchain Verify send either: each kind only draws on its own balance.

Where to see your available credits​

Your Home dashboard shows your current balance as four counters: Blockchain available (Verify plus NFT Ownership combined), Verify, NFT Ownership, and Web basic, which always reads as unlimited.

"Awards" keeps its own live counter of the same balances on its Pending tab, alongside everything else it tracks about credentials waiting to be sent. See Credential Awards for the rest of what that tab shows.

If your organization has secondary organizations linked under it, Home opens by default on the "Global metrics" tab, which adds an "Available credits" card combining your balance with theirs. Switch to the "Main organization" tab to see your own organization's balance on its own, the same four counters as any other organization. Platform introduction covers the rest of what Home shows.

What happens when you do not have enough credits​

This shows up when you select several pending credentials in Awards and try to send them, or schedule them, together, and the selection needs more Verify or NFT Ownership credits than your organization currently has. Before anything goes out, POK stops you with a dialog titled "You do not have enough credits available to complete the full delivery."

The dialog breaks the shortfall down by kind, because Verify and NFT Ownership are separate balances:

  • If your selection has more blockchain NFT credentials than your NFT Ownership balance covers, it states how many NFT Ownership credentials are in your selection against how many NFT Ownership delivery credits you have available, and says it will send the first ones your balance covers, leaving the rest available in the list until you have more credits.
  • If your selection has more Blockchain Verify credentials than your Verify balance covers, it shows the same comparison for Verify credentials and Verify delivery credits, and again says it will send the first ones your balance covers, leaving the rest available in the list until you have more credits.
  • Both of the above can appear together, if your selection is short on both kinds at once.
  • If your selection also includes Web basic credentials, the dialog notes that those will be sent regardless: Web basic never draws on a credit balance.
  • Before you confirm, the dialog also totals how many credits in total, Verify and NFT Ownership combined, the action is about to deduct from your account.

Click "Confirm" and POK sends every Web basic credential in your selection, plus as many Verify and NFT Ownership credentials as your respective balances cover, starting with the ones you selected first. Whatever does not fit stays exactly where it was, still pending in Awards, so you can send it once you have more credits. Click "Cancel" and nothing goes out.

Sending a single credential works differently: if you try to send just one Verify or blockchain NFT credential and its balance is at zero, POK blocks that action outright instead of sending it partially. You need at least one credit of that kind before that single send goes through.

How to get more credits​

POK does not sell credits through a self-service flow inside the product. When your organization is out of credits, POK's own notice for it says to request more by writing to contact@pok.tech, and that is the way to do it: reach out directly and ask for a top-up. Plans and pricing shows what a credential costs at each volume.

Sharing credits with secondary organizations​

If your organization is a Main Organization with secondary organizations linked under it, you can send part of your own NFT Ownership credits to one of them. Open "Transfer credits" in the left-side menu, choose the organization and how many credits to send it, and confirm: the amount moves out of your NFT Ownership balance and into theirs, and the transfer cannot be undone once you confirm it.

Only NFT Ownership credits move this way; Verify credits are not part of a transfer.

A send went out only partially​

  1. Your selection needed more Verify or NFT Ownership credits than you had. This is expected, not an error: POK warned you before you confirmed, and only sent what your balance covered.
  2. What went out: every Web basic credential in the selection, plus the Verify and NFT Ownership credentials your balance covered, starting with the ones you selected first.
  3. What is still pending: the rest of the Verify or NFT Ownership credentials from that selection, sitting in Awards exactly as before. Request more credits, then select and send them again.

Your credit balance did not change​

  1. Check what you actually sent. Web basic credentials are free and unlimited: sending any number of them never touches your Verify or NFT Ownership balance.
  2. Check which of the two balances. Verify and NFT Ownership are separate: sending a Blockchain Verify credential only moves your Verify balance, and sending a blockchain NFT credential only moves your NFT Ownership balance. Look at the Verify and NFT Ownership counters on your Home dashboard separately, not just Blockchain available, to see which one actually moved.
