How to add additional information to a credential design in POK
Additional information is extra content about a credential that recipients see on a separate tab of their credential viewing page, not on the credential image itself. You add it from the design editor, and it covers three things: data common to everyone who receives the design, data specific to each recipient, and the visual style of that extra page.
Where is the Additional Information section
- Go to the Designs section and open the design you want to edit (or create a new one).
- In the left tool rail, scroll to the bottom. The Additional Information section is the last one in the list.
- Open it to see its three subsections: General Information, Personal Information, and Customize design.
What is General Information
General Information is content that is the same for every recipient of that design, such as a description, skills, earning criteria, evidence, issuer details, and evaluation.
- Open General Information and click Add.
- Fill in the form. Common fields include description, skills, earning criteria, evidence, and issuer details.
- Turn on Improve the quality of my OpenBadge credential if you want to unlock additional optional fields that make the credential richer and align it with the Open Badge 3.0 standard.
- Click Save.
Any General Information field can also be turned into a dynamic field, so its value changes per recipient at issuance instead of staying fixed for everyone. See Dynamic fields for how to set that up.
What is Personal Information
Personal Information holds fields that take a different value for each recipient, such as a GPA or an individual score. You add the fields here at design time, and you fill in the actual value for each person later, when you issue the credential.
- Open Personal Information and click Add.
- Name the field and configure it. For example, add a "GPA" field.
- Click Save.
How do I brand the additional information page
Use Customize design to theme the additional-information tab, its styles and colors, so it matches your organization's branding.
Save the design
For any changes in Additional Information to take effect, save the design:
- Give the design a name if it doesn't have one.
- Click Save design.
How do I fill in the values when issuing
Personal Information fields (and any General Information field marked as dynamic) don't have a fixed value until you issue the credential:
- Mass Issuance (bulk sending): add the value as an extra column in the CSV file you upload.
- Issue (single sending): add the value as an extra field in the issuance form.
Preview before issuing
Always preview the credential before sending it. Once a credential is issued, it cannot be modified.
